Quick soln: Use rainbow tool to define material.
Adjust material color.

Don't think they had the rainbow tool in V10. Just export the image (or you might even be able to find it in the Chief Data folder, as I think they used to do the materials files differently then) used in the material, edit in Photoshop, and import as a new material.
V10 has the Rainbow tool, but doesn't have the Blend Color with Texture option.
this is what is so frustrating about chief, all I want to do is change the colr of a material in raytrace from light grey to a darker grey. The rainbow tool will change it but not in raytrace. What good is raytrace if your stuck with the textured colors and can not alter them.Quote:

Glenn obviously has a better memory of V10 than me (it's been many many years since I have used that version), so I may not be able to tell you the exact steps but creating a new material should be covered in detail in the Help section of the program. You can find all kinds of texture images online and even seamless texture generators that will give you images suitable for importing as a texture in Chief. There are also many different sources of patterns both within Chief and available online that you can use as part of your material definition.

I still have all the versions back to V10 loaded on my machine, so it was quite easy.
There is no way my memory is that good!

Mike - on original question you could change the properties of the material and lower the ambient setting to darken the material. Just adjust it way down.
TO import a material open the 3D tab select materials, plan and create a new material there using the jpg you have.
