James,
If you are using CA9, then you would specify the wall a solid railing. For the cap, go to the Handrail tab and choose your molding.
If you are using CA8, you can use a soffit.
If the wall is a solid railing, the height should reflect what you input. If you dragged a wall up or down in elevation view, you would need to go to elevation view each time you want it adjusted.
Hope that helps.
Actually I have a pony wall and the cap i am wanting to place on top is a 4" cap that tapers to a 2"cap in front
we ( my boss) and i have been trying to keep up the pace and learn this program at the same time.
We decided for visuals the cap in one of the molding libraries was exactly what was needed to be there.
How would i place that on there from some other library? and have it act as it should?
James,
Select the pony wall (railing), open it up (dbx), and go to the handrail tab. Click on the select tab, and the Molding and Profiles Library will open up. You can then choose from any of the items listed. You can draw your own molding (p. 518 in Manual) and use it for the wall as well.
This molding is from the provided handrails library.

A couple things to keep in mind. Set the width and height you want after slecting the molding from the library. Remember to be out of "Low Detail" mode, or the molding will show as a block in camera views.
HTH.
on and up we go!

if you need any help with anything let me know .
Happy to help James.
Next time I'm in Hattiesburg, I'll have to look you up. :D
I am putting a cap on a pony wall and I have several walls coming towards me where i can see the wall molding on the side
I noticed a gap behind the molding
I then tried to move the molding back to the surface of the wall and it acts as if the facade of the pony wall is some how being carried up invisibly to the roof soffit.
any body have an answer for this?
thanks
Clyde

James,
I'm in Phoenix, Arizona, and I don't have a clue where Hattiesburg is? I was just teasing. Sorry.
hattiesburg is in MS
which is basically in the middle of nowhere.
if you find No-where on the map then go 2 miles due south you will find yourself in MS then another 10 miles .......... your in Hattiesburg.
