I thought I read somewhere here in Chieftalk, that you could shut off the garage door outline in plan view.
I did a search and can't find it.
Does anyone know where this setting is, or if it is possible?
Thanks

I don't know if this is the only answer, but, here is my take. The Garage Door is placed on the door layer. You can change it to a different layer and then turn the layer off. You might need to add a couple of CAD lines to make up for some that are turned off.

Jim:
Place them on a separate layer and turn off that layer for 2D mode.

Yea, what Lew said.

Use a doorway..
Thanks for your advice.
Allen: If I use a doorway, how do I show the door?
Or use a door and close it....
Jim
Try the doorway and see if that is the look you want in plan.. door closed might be what you want like Troy said..
If you turn it off in layers it might not be the look you want in plan..
turn off layer in 2D, leave it on for 3D
Lew
i'll second Lew's answer. put your garage doors on their own layer, turn of that layer in 2-d, but keep in on in 3-d. that way you don't have the out line on your plans, but it is still seen in 3-d.
Lew/JoAnne
Try it and see what that looks like.
I thought he just didn't want the dashed lines going into the garage..
Allen:
I did try it before I posted my first reply.
Turning off the layer in 2D displays the "doorway" but not the outlines, and the door displays properly in 3D.
What are you seeing ?

I get a big gap in the wall, looks more like no wall than an opening..
This could be confusing to the framers..
Same as having a cased opening showing that way, looks more like a flush ceiling going through..
I guess it depends on what he wants to see.
Personally, I would show the garage door outlines :)

I would to..
Could be hinged barn doors swinging out...
