Would like to know why I can't see the suspended ceiling in this plan. Thanks.
Your right!
What layer are they on?
And did you build any?
Andy
Hey Andy, any comments on Revit vs CA? Do you use both and any pros and cons?
What did you use as a suspended ceiling.
Hey Scott, I rarely use Revit anymore. Only for small commercial stuff and helping a couple people here and their with their Revit files.
Actually, I don't use it for commercial either.
There are great things about the program, showing a reflected ceiling plan is one of them.
The cad blacks for the various things like call-outs are top notch too, they just look great on a plan.
I was never able to figure out roof planes very well though, not near as easy as Chief. If fact there is not much that is easier than Chief.
Cad detailing is terrific, it all AutoCad based, very powerful.
Text and layers are as difficult to work with as ACAD.
The 'Family' structures for objects is I think the most difficult part of the program, as well as trying to get a good raytrace. Hmm...not difficult but a real PITA.
I am loosing my Revit skills and not regretting it too much.
Andy.
Thanks for the input Andy. My son is using Revit, and I think he is ahead of the other guys in his office. He is constantly talking about creating families, My response is ..... uh? Why do you have to create families, you get the drift...... we may complain about CA's weaknesses, but that is akin to complaining about having to pay a million dollars in taxes each year. My goal in life is to pay 10 million a year in taxes, if I was doing that, I would gave very little to complain about.
I believe it is on the default set. When I go to the room specification under structure I see that the dropped ceiling is there and there is a suspended ceiling material attached to it but I don't see it with cameras.
You have built a trussed roof system so you will have to create or build the ceiling plane separately.
YOu will find the ceiling plane tool in the roof tools drop-down.
Just like building a roof, but after you create the ceiling plane set the height and the pitch to match the bottom chord of the trusses.
Give it the ceiling tile material and then you will have your ceiling show in the views.
Andy.
Thanks, that worked. Can you actually get the suspended ceiling grid to show up in the materials list?
Thanks again
Ooh, properly using the materials list requires a combination of a vast knowledge of Quantum Mechanics, Tensor analysis, dark magic and a smidgeon of luck.
None of which I possess.
Andy.
Andy:
good summary of the ML
LOL :)
