Dimensioning a geometric shape

I am wondering why I cant dimension any of the geometric shapes that I create. It seems that the dimensioning tool doesn't recognize the geometric shape. Is there any way to get a dimension of these things? Thanks for the help guys!

Are you using geometric shapes from the Library or in fact creating your own? I can dimension to the sides of a solid box or cylinder from the Library just fine.
