editing trusses
At the users meeting this past summer in Idaho I saw the instructor edit a drop gable truss (I think this was David Potter). I forgot how this was done. The problem was to drop the truss 3 1/2" instead of the default of 1 1/2". Does any know how this is done?

What do you mean exactly by "Drop"? Do you mean lower in the "Z" axis? If so select the truss (which then activates the "Edit" toolbar); within the "Edit" toolbar is the "Transform-Replicate" command icon from which you can then move, duplicate or otherwise edit the selected truss. Is that what you mean?

Do you have version 10?
If so, one of the included tutorial videos explains how to do it.

I mean "end truss" on a gable. I am running v10.6.
I seems that we were all suprised that this could be done.

open the build framing defaults dbx>roof tab and set the lookoout depth to 3 1/2" thne build your dropped gable truss...

Maybe it was "reduced gable" Anyway I need to reduce it 3 1/2" so that I can install 2x4's on edge instead of flat. I find no editing tool in the DBX for this. I remember in the class there were handles that appeared so this could be edited. How do I get these handles? I saw it done once and now I would like to do the same. Thanks for any help on this.

Thanks Tim, that did the trick of adjusting the reduced gable truss. Now if I could only find those handles. I know I saw them in class, I think even David was suprised to see them when we stumbled across this way of editing.
