I am certain that the answer is no, but I thought it best to ask here first ( I am glad I asked):
Can Home Designer Pro 8.0 open a Chief Architect X1 file?
I know I can open the HDP 8.0 into X1.
Thanks,
Carl

In X1, you have to go into your Plan Defaults and check the box to allow editing in Home Designer version 8 programs for Pro 8 to open and edit.
Catherine,
Thanks for the response. Do you know if there are any known compatability issues? I am working with a client who has HDP 8.0. I am using Chief X1. The client wants the ability to make minor revisions to the floor plans and such, as well as be able to place furniture and such in their plan, after I created the model in X1. I work with many clients this way, but we have always been using Chief and Chief. I am a little concerned with throwing HDP 8.0 into the mix.
Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question.

Hi Carl
They can not use tool that the cheaper software does not have.
If you lock layers, they can not unlock them easily..
I recommend getting one of the home versions to try it out..

Or call sales, they may give you a better deal as a Chief user if you explain why you want it..
Allen,
Thanks. I contact tech. support. They filled me in on the specifics. I appreciate the help. I am confident now that I can make this work.
Carl
